Abstract
Interferon beta-1b has been shown to reduce the frequency and severity of exacerbations in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (MS). Unrealistic expectations of the patient and unexpected side effects may lead to discontinuation of the drug. Here we provide guidelines how to inform the patient adequately before therapy and discuss the most common side effects of interferon therapy.
