Higher carbohydrate diet for diabetic patients

Tohoku J Exp Med. 1983 Dec:141 Suppl:665-9. doi: 10.1620/tjem.141.suppl_665.

Abstract

A higher (75%) carbohydrate diet was tried in 16 insulin treated patients for the duration of 2 weeks. A significant decrease was found in the mean predinner blood glucose level. There was no significant change in lipid levels. It is concluded that higher carbohydrate diets may be useful in the treatment of diabetes, especially when economic considerations are important.
